Profile Lee Frecklington

Indeedy! For Frecktanian is the swashbuckling midfield musketeer who up came through the clubs Centre of Excellence and stayed.

Born in Lincoln he got one of the few scholarships handed out in our fair City nowadays. This after Schoey had talked him into leaving Norwich, becoming his coach and mentor. This is why Schoey will bear with him in these his darker hours. Out of the blue he made his debut in the Imps first round match of the LDV Vans Trophy against Telford United in October 2003. In the summer of 2005 Keith, who hadn`t completely given up on him as a central defender, gave him a one-year contract. In his first season he bagged 10 set up countless others and took League 2 by storm. Pleased to say he has now agreed a contract extension to keep him at Sincil Bank until the summer of 2009 having become the only Imp to make it into last seasons League 2 select 2006-7.

Two goals stick in my mind. The first against Walsall, top with a 100% record and no goals conceded until Kerr had curled in a 25 yarder. We could see the bend perfectly all the way from the Stacey West. A trademark Imp counter saw the ball reach Stallardicus. He controlled and set Jamie free down the left. Frecklington ran full pelt to make the cross. His diving bullet header was worth the entrance fee alone. Our local lad had come good four games into the season. His confidence would only grow.

The second was against Barnet on Saturday to re-ignite the Impquest. The now more confident though battle weary Frecktanian, leader of our misfiring musketeers, calmed the nerves. Just as well as his dreamy eyed doting Damsels were nearly through their nail extensions and in need of rescue. And what a goal. With no space in the box he dribbled to the left. Turned to come back, stopped, and nonchalantly flicked a venomous curling shot with the outside of his foot into the far corner. Good night, thank you, and I`ll be doing a matinee next Sunday!
