Stoke v Argyle |

Plymouth Argyle face Stoke City on Saturday in what promises to be a battle of attack against defence and flamboyance versus the uniform. After deservedly beating John Gregory's Queens Park Rangers 2-0 on Tuesday the Pilgrims will be up against another former manager in Tony Pulis, who left Argyle during the summer of 2006 to once again manager Stoke City. The long, drawn out Pulis-to-Stoke saga dominated the Home Park headlines during the summer of 2006 and left most Argyle fans angry with Pulis' behaviour and for the way that Argyle were left without a manager just as the pre-season was about to start. However, it must be remembered that Pulis did a fantastic job while at Argyle and saved the club from almost certain relegation to a final, respectable position of 14th in the Championship at the end of the 2005-2006 season. Current Argyle boss Ian Holloway, who succeeded Pulis at Home Park, is a long-time friend of the Stoke manager and will be keen to get one over his old mate. The Holloway v Pulis matches from last season both ended in 1-1 draws, so will the attacking flair of the Pilgrims overcome the rugged defensive play of Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday? Plymouth Vital has spoken to our colleague at Stoke Vital to get the inside view of all things red and white. |
