Australia made light work of India in their group opener. As expected, the Socceroos ran out convincing 4-0 winners at the final whistle and now lead Group C on goal difference from the Koreans going into this fixture.

Everton start Tim Cahill netted a brace for the Socceroos vs India with Brett Holman and Harry Kewell also netting for Holger Osieck’s men. Fulham stoppaer Mark Schwarzer had a relaxed outing in goal as India failed to really offer any notable attacking threat.

South Korea beat Bahrain 2-1 in their first game thanks to a goal in either half from Koo Ja-Cheol. However their evening was spoilt when defender Kwak Tae-Hwi was sent off in the dying minutes, thereby allowing Faouzi Aaish to pull one back for Bahrain from the spot. Tae-Hwi will therefore miss his side’s fixture against the Socceroos on Friday.
