Australia will kick off their second Asian Cup campaign with an easy encounter against minnows India on Monday. Australia have a full strength side studded with Europe-based superstars. Tim Cahill, Mark Schwarzer, Harry Kewell, Lucas Neill, David Carney and Brett Emerton are all household names who have taken a break from club competition in Europe to participate in the Asian Cup.

Bob Houghton’s India are making only their third appearance in the Asian Cup and are expected to make the numbers in a tough group that also consists of South Korea and Bahrain. The two players who can make a difference to India’s fortunes are Sunil Chhetri and Baichung Bhutia. Chhetri plays for the Kansas City Wizards and is India’s best forward. Bhutia, who has been the face of Indian football for over a decade, has not played a competitive game in six months and his fitness is a concern.
