Qatar picked up their first points of the competition by beating China 2-0 in their last game. Striker Yusuf Ahmed scored both goals of the game in the first half to keep the home side’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage alive.

Yusuf’s first goal was absolute class, with the striker showing great control before producing an excellent volley to put his side ahead. If Qatar win or draw against Kuwait and China do not win against Uzbekistan, then the Qataris will qualify along with the Uzbeks.

Kuwait are rooted to the bottom of the group after losing both their group games. The Gulf Cup champions, who had lost 2-0 to China in their group opener, were beaten 2-1 by Uzbekistan in their last fixture. Bader Al Mutawa scored Kuwait’s only goal of the game against Uzbekistan from the penalty spot early in the second half.
