Gabon’s first game in ten years at the African Cup of Nations sees Alain Giresse’s men take on tournament favourites Cameroon in Group D at the Estadio alto de Chela in Lubango. Watch Cameroon v Gabon live online with Ole Ole Football.

The Indomitable Lions, who last won the tournament in 2002, have already met Gabon twice in the qualification stages. On both occasions, Paul Le Guen’s side emerged victors. Gabon will be looking to avenge their defeats to Cameroon when the two sides square off in Lubango.

For Gabon to have any chance of winning this tie, they will have to neutralise the threat of all-time CAN top goal scorer Samuel Eto’o. The Inter Milan forward has been topping the goal-scoring charts for the last two competitions, scoring five goals in each edition.

Supporting Eto’o in attacking will be the vastly experienced Pierre Webo. Cameroon have an embarrassment of riches in midfield with the likes of Alexandre Song, Jean Makoun, Stephane M’Bia, Achille Emana and Joel Matip competing for places. Benoit Assou Ekkoto, Rigobert Song and Geremi will be the main figures in defence. Sebastien Bassong has surprisingly been left out of the squad.

Gabon have made spectacular progress under French coach Alain Giresse. They were in contention for World Cup Qualification till the last matchday. A loss to Togo combined with Cameroon’s win against Morocco saw them eliminated. Gabon’s threat can’t be taken lightly.

Gabon captain Daniel Cousin could prove to be a thorn in Cameroon’ s flesh and Azingo Nationalewill heavily rely on him for goals. He will be partnered in attack by Laval striker Fabrice do Marcolino. The experience of Bruno Zita and Cedric Moubamba will be vital against a strong Cameroon midfield.
