Paul le Guen’s Cameroon were a trifle unlucky to lose against Gabon. They created truckloads of chances with skipper Eto’o, Emana and Pierre Webo going close on plenty of occasions, but were simply unable to get the ball in the back of the net. Gabon keeper Didier Ovono was also in excellent form as he produced a string of impressive saves to keep Cameroon at bay.
Somen Tchoyi looked very good when he came on at half time for Landry N’Guemo and may get a start against a physical Zambia side. The big match experience of Stephane M’Bia might also be required for this crucial tie. Samuel Eto’o failed to open his account in the opening tie and he will be looking to set the record straight against Zambia.
Zambia’s French coach Herve Renard has expressed his desire to knock Cameroon out of the tournament. "I hope we can knock Cameroon out of this tournament,” he emphatically said at a press conference. A win is not beyond Zambia but they will have to play out of their skins on Sunday.
Jacob Mulenga scored Zambia’s only goal of the game when they drew against 2004 champions Tunisia. Kampamba Chintu missed a glorious opportunity in the 83rd minute while Mayuka’s goal was wrongly disallowed for offside. Zambia do not have any cards or injury problems to worry about.
