The game could very well have been the finals of the tournament if Cameroon had won their group as expected. But with Zambia topping Group D, Cameroon have handed themselves a tough quarter final against Egypt.

Egypt are the only team with a 100% record in the tournament. Hasan Shehata’s side have scored seven goals and conceded just one in the group stages. Goals have flown in from the boots of Mohamed Gedo, El Mohamady and Emad Moteab who was voted as the most outstanding player in the group stages. Borussia Dortmund star Mohamed Zidan hasn’t found the net so far but his experience and pace will be invaluable for the Pharaohs. Egypt have no injuries or suspensions to worry about.

The Indomitable Lions recovered from their first game loss to Gabon to qualify behind Zambia from Group D but have not been convincing. Their defence which has allowed the opposition to score in every game is a cause for concern. Rigobert Song and Andre Bikey could get a start after coming on as substitutes against Tunisia.

On the attacking front though, things are looking bright. Skipper Samuel Eto’o has scored in the last two games. He has struck a fine partnership with Mohmmadou Idrissou. Landry N’Guemo, Somen Tchoyi and Achille Emana will support the attacking duo. Cameroon have bowed out at the quarter final stage thrice in the last six tournaments and they will need an inspired display from their bevy of European superstars to knock out the holders.
