The withdrawal of Togo from the tourney has reduced the group to mere three teams. In their first game against less fancied Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast shot blanks and came out with a disappointing draw. A win against Ghana would still ensure their qualification in the quarter finals but anything less and they will have to depend on the final game of the group to know their future.

Vahid Halilhodzic will be hoping for some clinical finishing from his European stars. Marseille striker Bakary Kone was guilty of missing a lot of chances against Burkina Faso and could make way for either Aruna Dindane or Drogba’s Chelsea team-mate Salomon Kalou. Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has picked up a booking and needs to be careful in order to avoid a suspension.

Ghana have been forced to watch from the sidelines after Togo’s withdrawal. But a draw in the first game of the group means that Ghana will make the knockout phase if they win against Ivory Coast. Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has a rich array of talent to choose from. Gyan Asamoah will be their main source of goals. He will be supported in attack by Ghanain U-21 star Dominic Adiyiah who plays for AC Milan. In the absence of key names like Stephen Appiah and Sulley Muntari, the onus will be on Michael Essien to neutralise the threat of Elephants’ midfield which has the likes of Zokora and Yaya Toure.
