Bayern Munich’s not so impressive start to this season’s Bundesliga continued in their last game before the enforced international break when they could only draw at home. In their last game before the two week international break kicked in, Bayern Munich entertained Cologne at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Much to the dismay of their suffering fans they could only manage a tame 0-0 draw. A consequence of this result meant that Bayern slipped even further down the Bundesliga table and are now languishing in eighth position with twelve points; already eight points behind current leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

In their eight games so far played this season, Bayern have won three games, drawn a further three and lost two. The three games they did win were not only impressive ones (Wolfsburg and Nurnberg at home and Dortmund away) but were achieved in successive games. They haven’t won in two now though, and the trip to Freiburg who are only two places below them in the league table is already worrying their fans.

For their part, Freiburg come into the game on the back of a humiliating 5-2 away defeat to Hannover. They are now in tenth position in the Bundesliga table with ten points and their home record so far this season is not good; they have only won once, while drawing once and losing two of their four games.
