The Carling Cup fourth round has thrown up another all premier league tie as Chelsea and Bolton will fight it out on Wednesday evening for a place in the fifth round. Chelsea are so far enjoying a great season under new boss Carlo Ancellotti. They won again at the weekend, convincingly, and thanks to Manchester United’s defeat to arch rivals Liverpool, went back to the top of the Premier league table and lead Sir Alex Ferguson’s men by two points. Bolton also enjoyed a great win at the weekend when they defeated David Moyes’ Everton side 3-2. They currently sit mid table thanks to this win.

On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea hosted Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge in the Premier league and thrashed their challengers 5-0. Despite only winning 1-0 at half time thanks to a Blackburn own goal, they really turned the style on in the second half and scored another four goals with Lampard (2), Essien and Drogba grabbing the goals. The win enabled them to storm back to the top of the Premier League and they now have 24 points after ten games.

For their part, Bolton beat Everton at the Reebok Stadium on Sunday by 3-2, a score that let them rise to twelfth position in the league table. The game was an exciting affair, with Bolton racing into a two goal lead. David Moyes side managed to hit back with two goals but the tie was decided by a dramatic late winner from the Bolton team.
