The team did enough to have wrapped up the game from the first half, but a mixture of woeful finishing and great goalkeeping kept the score to 1-0, always giving Wolves a chance to bit back; a chance they ultimately didn’t take.

For their part, Crystal Palace suffered defeat in their Championship game at the weekend, when they went down at home to Newcastle by 2-0 meaning Neil Warnock’s team now find themselves in fourteenth position in the Championship table with four points from four games. In the last round of the Carling Cup, Palace defeated Devon side Torquay 2-1 at Selhurst Park.
