Mark Hughes’ side go into the game having drawn a staggering seven consecutive League games. They have let a lead slip in their last three games and have kept only a single clean sheet at home. The last game in the Cup saw the Citizens achieve a comfortable 5-0 win against Scunthorpe. Hughes would be expecting a similar level of performance against Arsenal, who are known for playing their junior side in this competition.
Robinho played at the weekend and is available for selection. Apart from Martin Petrov who is recovering from injury, City have a full squad to choose from. Gareth Barry and Pablo Zabaleta were rested at the weekend and are expected to take their places in the side. Fringe players like Michael Johnson and Vincent Kompany might also be given a start against Arsenal.
Of the team that beat Liverpool in the last round, only Samir Nasri and Eduardo featured against Chelsea at the weekend. Wenger is expected to go in with a young team giving the likes of Ramsey, Vela, Walcott, Redmond and Watt some valuable playing time. Arsenal have a huge injury list to worry about as well. Kieran Gibbs, Abou Diaby, Gael Clichy, Robin van Persie, Djorou, Lukas Fabianski are all on the treatment table. William Gallas also has a face injury.
