Striker Shola Amoebi made it 3-1 shortly after the interval but a brace from Nicolas Anelka brought Chelsea back on level terms. Amoebi however had the last word as his injury time header condemned Carlo Ancelotti’s men to a surprise 4-3 defeat.

Arsenal beat fierce North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 in extra time in the previous round. Two penalties from Samir Nasri and a goal from Andrei Arshavin gave the Gunners a 4-1 win after the two sides had drawn 1-1 in regulation time. Midfield prodigy Jack Wilshere is suspended for Arsenal and will play no part in this fixture.
