The first leg of this tie was a cagey affair, with Manchester United claiming a 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal from an unlikely source defender John O’Shea. United were dominant for most of that first leg, with Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia having to be at his best, producing some superb saves to deny the European champions. In truth Arsenal struggled to get into the game and their usual passing style seemed to be absent.

Arsenal have doubts over defender Mikael Silvestre and striker Eduardo, after both players picked up groin injuries in the first leg. Arsenal could however welcome back first choice left back Gael Clichy and striker Robin Van Persie after both players returned to training.
Manchester United will have high hopes of progressing to the Champions League final for a second successive season, after the first leg 1-0 defeat of the Gunners. The champions have match winners all over the park and in Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo they have players that could punish the Gunners on the break.
Manchester United have a big doubt over Rio Ferdinand, the big defender picked up a rib injury in the first leg. Jonny Evans will replace the England man if he is deemed unfit to play. Manager Alex Ferguson is likely to go with a slightly less attacking team, which means Carlos Tevez could drop to the bench.
