Atletico won their second La Liga match in a row as they downed Xerez 2-0 away from home. Goals in either half from Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan and his striker partner Sergio Aguero gave Los Colchoneros a 2-0 win. It was another welcome win for Atletico fans, who have had to endure a miserable start to the new season.

Atletico drew 1-1 with APOEL on Match Day 5 to keep their quest for a win in the Champions League unfulfilled. Simao’s 62^nd minute goal cancelled out Nenad Mirosvljevic’s opener for APOEL. Andreazinho reduced the deficit for Vitoria, but second half strikes from Bruno Alves and Cristiano Rodriguez completed an emphatic win for Jesualdo Ferreira’s side.
