Reigning Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar welcome Arsene Wenger’s high flying Gunners to the DSB Stadium on Tuesday night as the two teams met for the first time in European competition. You can watch live streaming of AZ vs Arsenal live from your control panel with Ole Ole Football.
Alkmaar, who had lost their Champions League opener to Olympiakos, were on the verge of collecting their first win in Group H after Mounir El Hamdoui had given them the lead early in the second half. The Moroccan forward collected Brett Holman’s pass before putting the ball past Standard keeper Bolat. However fans at the DSB Stadion were stunned when Moussa Traore grabbed a last ditch equaliser for Standard, thereby giving AZ a single point instead of all three.
Hamdoui was also on target in AZ’s 3-2 weekend loss to FC Twente. The latter won the game thanks to Blaise N’Kufo’s last minute game. AZ are currently in sixth place in the Eredivisie, eleven points behind leaders Twente.
Arsenal beat Olympiakos 2-0 on Match Day 2 at the Emirates Stadium. Eduardo and Cesc Fabregas combined to set up Robin Van Persie for Arsenal’s 78th minute opener. Fabregas also assisted Andrei Arshavin for Arsenal’s second of the game. The Spanish midfielder’s cross was backheeled by the little Russian into the net as Arsenal made sure of all three points.
Arsenal beat Birmingham City 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in their weekend Premiership game. Two goals in two first half minutes from Abou Diaby and Van Persie saw Arsenal go 2-0 up, but Lee Bowyer gave Birmingham some hope with his 38th minute goal. That hope was however crushed when Arshavin scored his fifth goal of the season in the 84th minute to give the Gunners a 3-1 win.
