Bayern Munich will be looking to take revenge for the 2-1 defeat inflicted upon them by Bordeaux in France a fortnight ago when they host the French champions at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night. As stated before, Bayern were felled 2-1 by Bordeaux on Match Day 3, a result that saw the Bavarian giants drop to third in Group A. An own goal from Michael Ciani gave Bayern the lead, but Ciani made amends for his error as he brought Bordeaux back into the game in the 27^th minute. Marc Planus then put Bordeaux 2-1 in the 40^th minute, and the score line could have made for worse reading had Yoann Gourcuff and Jussie not missed second half penalties for the hosts.

Bayern had Thomas Muller and Daniel Van Buyten sent off that night, and both are therefore suspended for this game. Louis Van Gaal’s men were also held to a goalless draw by struggling Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Bordeaux currently lead Group A with seven points from three games, two more than second placed Juventus. A victory against Bayern at the Allianz Arena would put Laurent Blanc’s side in pole position to qualify for the knockout stages.

Defender Marc Planus, who scored the winner against Bayern, also netted the decisive goal when Bordeaux faced AS Monaco in Ligue 1 on Saturday. The win opened a four point gap at the top of Le Championnat between Les Girondins and second placed ASM.
