Struggling Besiktas will be counting on home support to upset mighty Manchester United when the two teams met at the BJK Inonu stadium in Istanbul on Tuesday evening.

Kara Kartallar have won just once in the league so far, and were clearly second best to local rivals Galatasaray on Saturday. They could probably not have asked for a worse time to play Manchester United, who have won four of their five Premier League games so far.

Besiktas are expected to try and choke Manchester United in midfield, and a lot will depend on German midfielder Michael Fink if they are to employ that tactic successfully. Fink will be up against Scottish captain Darren Fletcher, who has been wonderful for United in the centre of the park.

Wayne Rooney was in sublime form for Manchester United as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 on Saturday despite playing with 10 men for most of the second half. Rooney also has happy memories of playing in Turkey- he netted a hat trick against Fenerbahce on his Champions League debut for United.
