Inter had to endure some nervous moments before managing to secure qualification from Group F. The Nerazzurri won only two games but did enough to finish second behind defending champions Barcelona. Romanian international Cristian Chivu is available for selection after serving a one match ban, but injury is expected to keep him out of this clash.

Unlike Inter, Chelsea hardly had issues in qualifying. The Blues comfortably finished first in a group that also featured Porto, Atletico Madrid and Cypriot outfit APOEL. Both Lucio and Walter Samuel are a booking away from a ban and that will only play to the advantage of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, who have together netted six goals in the Champions League this season for Chelsea.
