 Manchester United made it through to the semi final with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Porto in the last round. The Portuguese champions took the lead through Cristian Rodriguez, before goals from Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez put United ahead. Arsenal defeated Villarreal 4-1 on aggregate in the quarter finals. The Gunners grounded out a 1-1 draw at El Madrigal, Emmanuel Adebayor equalising after Marcos Senna gave the Yellow Submarine the lead. An emphatic 3-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium followed with goals from Theo Walcott, Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin Van Persie enough to secure passage to the semi finals. Manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping that his side can snatch an away goal to take back to the Emirates Stadium for the second leg next Tuesday.

The Gunners task will be made harder by the absence of striker Robin Van Persie. The Dutch star is currently struggling with a groin injury. They are also without French left back Gael Clichy, but he could return for the second leg next Tuesday.
