After successive defeats against AC Milan and Real Madrid, Marseille finally picked up their first points in Group C a fortnight ago when they beat Zurich 1-0 at the Letzigrund Stadium. Argentine defender Gabriel Heinze, scorer of OM’s only previous goal in the competition, netted midway through the first half to revive their hopes of making it to the next stage.

Laurent Bonnart is suspended for this game, but Souleymane Diawara is available after serving his one match ban. Marseille were held to a 1-1 draw by ten man Toulouse in their weekend French Ligue 1 game. Brandao’s 75^th minute strike cancelled out Moussa Sissoko’s opener for TFC, but Marseille, who played with a man extra for all but eight minutes of the game, were unable to make their numerical superiority count.

FC Zurich have an impressive away record in the Champions League this season, beating Maribor and Ventspils in qualifying and AC Milan in the group stages. Both Xavier Margairaz and Onyekachi Okonkwo are a card away from suspension.

Zurich drew 1-1 with Sion in their weekend Swiss Super League game. Tariq Chihab’s 3^rd minute opener for Sion was cancelled out by Alexandre Alphonse’s 67^th minute goal. Zurich will also not have to face Lucho Gonzalez after the Argentine twisted his ankle in Marseille’s weekend game against Toulouse.
