The result took Porto to third place in the league, but the Dragons are still five points behind leaders Braga.
Maxi Rodriguez’s late goal prevented Atletico Madrid from slumping to their third defeat of the season against Valencia. Sergio Aguero put Atletico ahead in the seventh minute, but Valencia went 2-1 up at the break thanks to goals from Pablo Hernandez and David Villa. However Rodriguez grabbed a late equaliser as Atletico came away from the Mestalla with a point.
Atletico have collected just three points from their first five La Liga fixtures, and are in currently in the relegation zone. They did create a fair number of chances against APOEL at the Vicente Calderon a fortnight ago, but the Cypriots were saved time and again by the brilliance of Dionisios Chitis in goal.
