FC Porto managed to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford in the first leg last Tuesday. The draw was an excellent result as their two away goals gives them a huge advantage in the tie. It now means Manchester United have to come to Estadio do Dragao and win the game to progress to the semi finals. If United do win at Porto they will become the first English side ever to do so in the Champions League.

The visitors shocked United at home by taking an early lead through Cristian Rodriguez after only four minutes. Wayne Rooney was gifted an equaliser in the 15^th minute. It looked as though United would take a lead into the second leg, as Carlos Tevez put United ahead in the 85^th minute. But that wasn’t the end of the scoring as Porto substitute Mariano Gonzalez scored an equaliser in the 89^th minute to stun Old Trafford.

That late equaliser means that Manchester United will have to take the game to Porto in the second leg, as they have to win the game to make it into the semi finals. The only other result which would take the European champions through would be a high scoring draw such as 3-3.

Jesualdo Ferreira’s side have big doubts over central defensive lynchpin Pedro Emanuel and also Nelson Benitez, defender Jorge Fucile also looks likely to miss the clash. Colombian midfielder Freddy Guarin could return to the Porto midfield after missing the trip to Old Trafford.

United are definitely without defenders Wes Brown and Rafael Da Silva for this clash. The Red Devils will hope that England defender Rio Ferdinand has recovered from the groin problem which kept him out of the first leg.
