Real Madrid have a seemingly easy task of playing at home against Swiss club FC Zurich on Matchday Five of the Champions League. A win at the Bernabeu, coupled with a win for AC Milan, could see Los Merengues qualify for the knockout stage. Real went to the top of the Spanish League table following their weekend win against Racing Santander. Apart from the couple of blemishes in the Copa Del Rey, Madrid have been winning consistently. Real won the away tie against Zurich with a whopping 5-2 scoreline and would be looking to replicate the performance at home.

Real will be without the services of Jose Maria Guti and Ruud van Nistelrooy who are nursing injuries. Lassana Diarra made a substitute appearance at the weekend and may well feature. Cristiano Ronaldo did not play at the weekend but might make the squad against Zurich.

Apart from a surprise win against Milan, Zurich have flattered to deceive, and were hammered 6-1 by Olympique Marseille on Match Day 4. They lie third from bottom in the Swiss league and have won once in their last five league outings. It would be difficult to see them get anything out of their trip to the Spanish capital.

FC Zurich will also be without the services of Swiss international Johan Volanthen who has failed to recover from the injury he suffered against Marseille on Matchday 4. He would need another two weeks to be fit, ruling him out of this tie. But coach Bernard Challande can now call upon defender Philippe Koch and midfielder Silvan Aegerter. Koch has recovered from a ligament problem while Aegerter is fit again after an adductor strain.
