They have also finished as runners-up in both the Champions League/European Cup (1957) and the UEFA Cup (1990). They are relative European novices compared to their opponents, but are they will prove a tough opponent for the Portuguese side.

They have lost influential Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo to Juventus for £21million and have only brought in Marco Marchionni also from Juventus. However they have some exciting attacking talent in the shape of striker’s Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino and in Riccardo Montolivo have a superb playmaker.
