It is official there are now just 4 teams left in the race for championship at the Gold Cup 2009. It has been a thrilling tournament and it will inch closer to an end on Thursday July 23rd as the semi-final games get underway at Soldier Field in Chicago. In the first game of the semi-finals Honduras will be taking on the United States as both teams look to push into the finals. The United States finished up the table with 10 points while Honduras came through in third with 7 points. Honduras skipped past Canada in the quarterfinals to inch one step closer to the championship while the United States were able to move past Panama by a score of 2-1 in extra time.

Honduras will be looking for revenge in the game since they have already lost a game to the U.S by a score of 2-0 earlier in the tournament. The Honduras team has prepared well for the match and their coach Reinaldo Rueda has been proper about not saying anything negative about the American team. Both of these teams consist of some very promising young stars, as opposed to their veteran based roster for World Cup qualifying.

Both of the teams have been Gold Cup finalists before and would love to repeat the excitement. The United States are sure to be the favorites heading into the match considering they have already beaten Honduras one time in the 2009 Gold Cup.
