Both Jamaica and Costa Rica were stunned in their opening games of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Both teams will be looking to bounce back on Tuesday, July 7th and find a way to stay in contention to move past the opening round of this year's exciting tournament.

In their game against Canada Jamaica was put away by a 1-0 score in a game that was stolen by the goaltenders. Canada's Greg Sutton was sensational and Jamaica's Donovan Ricketts also came away with some remarkable saves. Canada found a way to put the game together when Ali Gerba scored in the 75^th minute of the game. It was a big loss for Jamaica and another loss to Costa Rica could be the end of the tournament for them.

Costa Rica came into this year's Gold Cup as one of the top favorites to make it to the finals but they could not put everything together in their opening game against El Salvador. The team from El Salvador made a charge to the top of Group A on the back of an goal from Osael Romero in the 86^th minute. Romero also scored in the 20^th minute and was single-handedly responsible for stunning the team from Costa Rica. The Ticos were able to tie up the game in the 64^th minute when Esteban Sirias sent a cross to Warren Granados who headed the ball into the open net. However it was not enough to keep La Selecta at bay.

After both losses, Jamaica and Costa Rica will be facing off against each other on Tuesday, July 7^th in a pivotal game for both teams. Jamaica will be in a tough spot against the Ticos and should be the underdog in the game.
