Nicaragua and Mexico are two teams that will be involved in the 2009 Gold Cup, but both come from very different football backgrounds. Nicaragua is better known for being an excellent baseball playing nation and this is the first time they have qualified for the Gold Cup. The earned the berth after beating Guatemala and capturing fifth place in the recent Central American Nations Cup.
