South Africa and New Zealand go head to head on Wednesday evening in their second games for the Confederations Cup Group A tournament, and this is a game you can watch at oleolefootball.watchlive.net – the home of live footy from the Confederations Cup 2009.
South Africa entertained Iraq in their first game of the tournament and although the hosts enjoyed the best of the game, a stubborn Iraqi rearguard action frustrated the home team and the game eventually ended in a rather disappointing 0-0 stalemate.
The game at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg promised so much to the home fans who are still buzzing over the awarding of FIFA’s 2010 World Cup Finals to their country, but the result of the game against Iraq brought them all back down to earth with a bump. It proved that South Africa still have a long way before they can even contemplate mixing it with the big boys in the upcoming World Cup finals. The first thing that they have to work on is trying to break down stubborn defences such as the one Iraq so successfully deployed in the opening game. Also, they have to show more composure in front of goal, which proved their downfall against Iraq.
New Zealand suffered a torrid first game when they were comprehensively beaten 5-0 by a rampant Spain. The Spanish team raced into a 4-0 lead within the first 24 minutes of the encounter, and the New Zealanders can count themselves lucky that the galaxy of starts in the Spanish team rather took their foot off the pedal for the rest of the game.
New Zealand did show though, that they have enough in their locker to compete with both South Africa and Iraq for a place in the semi finals of the tournament. South Africa and New Zealand go head to head on Wednesday evening in their second games of the Confederations Cup in Group A.
South Africa and New Zealand will both be looking for their first win in this year’s Confederations Cup on Wednesday evening. Can New Zealand or South Africa secure their first win in this year’s Confederations Cup when they face off on Wednesday evening?
