The Republic of Ireland will welcome the Macedonians to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday March 26th for an evening kick off in the European Championships. Ireland who are third in Group have a chance of going second on Saturday after the top two play each other and only goals separate second, third and fourth in the table. The Irish team managed by Giovanni Trappatoni has plenty of talent and should prove too much for Macedonia who have just one win over Andorra so far in this competition. The Ireland Republic team have got Bristol City striker Andy Keogh who likes to pick the ball up from deep and charge at defenders and he could partner Wolves hit man Kevin Doyle who has found his best form of the season. Damien Duff will most likely start to add some experience to youth and he should work off Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson who will play in centre midfield. Fellow Manchester team mate John O’Shea will feature at the back although Alex Ferguson may pull rank and refuse to release the player given the state of United’s injury list.
Macedonia have to start winning but after four games without a win albeit three of them friendly fixtures, there is little confidence to spare. Goals are severely lacking from the Macedonians but Goran Pandev who is playing regularly for Inter Milan should be able to rectify that problem. The Macedonia side lay in fifth place in the table but a surprise win away from home could put them back in the running for progression.
