The 21-member Spain squad announced by coach Vicente Del Bosque to face Liechtenstein has not thrown up many surprises and mostly consists of the same players who played in the 1-1 draw against Mexico earlier this month. Fernando Torres and Andres Iniesta come back into the squad after having missed the game against El Tri with injuries. There is also a recall for Liverpool’s Pepe Reina.

Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol and Valencia winger Juan Mata have missed out due to injury. Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla, who did not feature in La Roja’s World Cup winning squad, keeps his place from the Mexico friendly. Spain have an embarrassment of riches in attack with Fernando Torres, David Villa, Fernando Llorente and Pedro all jostling to play forward and the likes of Fabregas, Iniesta, Xabi Alonso and Xavi supporting them from midfield.

Liechtenstein lost both their games to Spain in the 2008 Euro qualifiers and finished bottom of their group. But they did manage to pick up two wins – one against Iceland and one against Northern Ireland. Hans Peter Zaugg has been their coach for over four years now and he will be hoping that experienced striker Mario Frick can cause the Spanish backline some problems. Most of the squad play their league football in their home country or Switzerland and they should not pose any real threat to the world champions.
