Athletic won 3-0 at the Franz Horr Stadium to end Austria Vienna’s hopes of making it to the next round. They took the lead in the first half through Fernando Llorente. The prolific striker netted after Mikel San Jose’s header from Javi Martinez’s cross had cannoned back off the crossbar. In hazy conditions in the Austrian capital, San Jose doubled Bilbao’s lead shortly after the hour mark by volleying past Szabolcs Safar.

Llorente added his second of the game five minutes from time to complete a comfortable victory for Los Leones. The match was marred by cloud violence, forcing a delay of nearly half an hour.

Werder scored four at home against Nacional on Match Day 5. Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg headed in the opener in the 31^st minute. Rosenberg nodded in after Moreno’s first time header from Daniel Jensen’s cross had struck the woodwork. Rosenberg was again in action three minutes later. Nacional failed to deal properly with Jensen’s corner and Rosenberg got the final touch to make it 2-0 to Werder.

A well struck free kick from Ruben Micael reduced the arrears, but Werder’s two goal advantage was restored when Moreno headed in substitute Marko Marin’s perfect cross in the 84^th minute. Marin himself got on to the score sheet in the second minute of stoppage time, slotting in after Clemens Fritz’s first time effort had been blocked by the Nacional keeper.
