Liverpool picked up back to back league wins for the first time under Roy Hodgson as they beat Bolton at the Reebok on Halloween. The victory, secured by a late goal from Argentine winger Maxi Rodriguez, allowed the Reds to climb out of the relegation zone.

However Liverpool haven’t quite solved all their problems; there was ample reflection of the same against Bolton. Star striker Fernando Torres missed a couple of chances he would have buried on another day and skipper Steven Gerrard didn’t trouble Bolton’s defenders too much. Gerrard failed to register a shot on target from a promising position and his free kicks did not carry the same venom they used to in the past.

Napoli beat Brescia 1-0 on Sunday in Serie A. Ezequiel Lavezzi’s strike thirteen minutes from time lifted the Partenopei into fourth place with fifteen points, seven behind leaders Lazio.
