Second place Roma and first place Basel clash in the Eternal City of Rome on Thursday evening for a Group E clash in the Europa League. With Basel currently leading the way in the group with nine points and Roma following up with nine, the Italians know that a win on home soil against their Swiss counterparts will be enough to see them through to the Round of 32. Roma are currently ninth in Serie A with 21 points and the season is not panning out how they would have liked. They already trail leaders Inter Milan by fourteen points. At the weekend they beat Atalanta 2-1 away.

Basel are sitting second in the Swiss league currently, sitting seven points behind current leaders Young Boys on 31 points. At the weekend the two teams actually clashed, with home side Young Boys winning the encounter by 2-0.
