Arsenal Cardiff Live
Arsenal and Cardiff will finally clash in a replay of the fourth round of the F A Cup which is live here at oleolefootball.watchlive.net at 19:45 GMT on Monday 16th January 2009 with the fa cup live.
The two sides finally meet in the fourth round -whilst other clubs competed in the fifth round this week- after the original tie resulted in a draw and the replay was postponed due to heavy snow in London. A last-16 tie against Championship outfit Burnley lies in wait for the winner with the Quarter-Final in sight.
Cardiff produced a magnificent performance in the original tie at Ninian Park where they at least fully deserved to take the tie to a replay. The Welsh side had numerous chances throughout the first-half to take the lead, with the best chances falling to Joe Ledley and Paul Parry who both failed to hit the target. Arsenal began to fight back late in the first-half but Cardiff almost stole the game late on when Ross McCormack’s free-kick hit the woodwork, but a draw was a fair result for either side, though Arsenal could have done without the extra fixture.
Arsene Wenger has told press that he wants to use a good FA cup run in order to restore morale at the Emirates Stadium and is likely to field a strong side for the cup tie, with the F.A cup the last piece of silverware under Wenger’s belt back in 2005. Arsenal striker Eduardo could make his comeback for the game after recovering from a broken leg, whilst Emmanuel Eboue is banned and former Cardiff star Aaron Ramsey is a doubt.
On-loan Manchester United youngster Tom Heaton replaces the injured Peter Enckelman in goal but Stephen McPhail is a doubt after injuring himself midweek.
