Birmingham beat Millwall 4-1 in the previous round but the scoreline at the New Den was a tad flattering to Alex McLeish’s side at the end. Millwall had more possession and created more chances, but their profligacy in front of goal let them down. Matt Derbyshire scored a brace for the Brummies, with Cameron Jerome and David Murphy also netting against the Lions.

Early goals from Freddy Eastwood and Carl Baker allowed Coventry to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup at the expense of Crystal Palace. Home keeper Keiren Westwood also saved a late spot kick from Palace’s Neil Danns as the Sky Blues ran out narrow 2-1 winners.
