Bolton go into their cup game against Sheffield United on the back of a home defeat by Arsenal in the Premier League last time out. The 2-0 reversal came in new manager’s Owen Coyle’s first game in charge of the Trotters and if he didn’t know the size of the task he was taking on when he left Burnley for Bolton, he certainly knows now. His team are currently second bottom in the English Premier League and they have eighteen points to their name.

In the last round of the FA Cup, Wanderers hosted Lincoln City from League Two and comfortably beat them by four goals to nil. Another home tie against lower league opposition this time round though, may not prove to be an as easy experience as the third round game. The team will, though, be trying their best for their new manager as many players have a point to prove when it comes to trying to figure in the mangers plans for the future.

For their part, Sheffield United eliminated Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in the third round and head into their game against Bolton full of optimism. They are also riding high in the Championship and currently occupy the last play-off position with 38 points. Last week in the league they beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at home.
