Bristol were due to play Cardiff a week ago, but the fixture was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Dutch midfielder Evander Sno could feature for the Robins after returning early from a family emergency. However defender Lewis Nyatanga is suspended following his red card against Watford a fortnight ago. Bristol drew that game 2-2, with Hornets midfielder John Eustace snatching an equaliser for the visitors in second half injury time.
In other positive news for the Robins, Gary Williams has recovered from his head injury. However Jamie McCombe remains sidelined. Bristol have made it to the fourth round of the FA Cup only once in the last eight years.
Cardiff drew 1-1 with Blackpool in the Championship on Saturday. The Bluebirds took the lead through Mark Hudson, but Blackpool equalised in the second half through Charlie Adam. Dave Jones has to contend with a number of injured and ill players as he seeks to seal Cardiff’s progress into the fourth round.
Young striker Josh Magennis suffered a broken fibula against Blackpool and will not feature against Bristol. However Jay Bothroyd, for whom Magennis was a replacement against Blackpool, is recovering from his virus. Ross McCormack is expected to feature despite carrying an illness, but Chris Burke is definitely out after sustaining a rib injury.
