The Blues were beaten 4-2 by Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City last weekend. Chelsea took the lead through Frank Lampard but then lost the plot as City raced to a 4-1 lead. Lampard also scored from the spot in injury time, but it was nothing more than a consolation. Midfielder Michael Ballack and defender Juliano Belletti are suspended for Stoke’s visit to West London.

Stoke were beaten 3-1 by Arsenal last weekend, a match overshadowed by the horrific injury suffered by young Aaron Ramsey. Ryan Shawcross, the man whose tackle lead to Ramsey’s injury, will serve the first of his three match ban on Sunday. The 3-1 scoreline was a tad harsh on the Potters, who held their own against the Gunners till the very end before conceding twice late in the game.
