Stamford Bridge hosts a third round FA Cup tie this coming Sunday when Chelsea entertain Championship side Watford in what could turn out to be a very intriguing tie. In their last Premier League game, Chelsea entertained Fulham in a West London derby. Fulham took an early lead in the match and when the half time whistle blew with the Cottagers still winning, a crescendo of boos filtered down from the Stamford Bridge stands. What this effect has on the Chelsea players in the long term is anybody’s guess, but it had the desired effect in the match in question with the Blues scoring two goals in the second half to end up winning the game 2-1.

Chelsea’s scorers were African Nations bound Didier Drogba and an own goal from Fulham’s youngster Smalling just two minutes later (75^th minute). Despite the win over their neighbours though, Chelsea boss Ancellotti will know his team’s performances over the last month or so have not been good enough, despite the side still leading the Premier League standings. Just quite what effect the loss of the African players have on Chelsea we’ll just have to see.

For their part, Watford travel to West London on the back of a 2-2 away draw at Bristol City last Monday. That result meant that Watford dropped to thirteenth in the Championship table with 32 points to their name.
