Coventry were seconds away from a precious victory in the original tie before an injury time equaliser salvaged a replay for Blackburn. The prolific Roque Santa Cruz had fired Blackburn into the lead after just 90 seconds before Aron Gunnarsson equalised with a magnificent long range strike. Michael Doyle then struck it lucky as his deflected shot somehow looped into the Blackburn net to send the Championship side into the lead. It seemed Coventry had done enough to earn the victory until Christopher Samba took full advantage of an Andy Marshall fumble to send the tie into a replay at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues are in a rich vein of form that has seen off the likes of promotion candidates Birmingham and Wolves in recent weeks. Coventry overcame second placed Birmingham at the weekend with a 1-0 home win and will look to recreate that form in the upcoming F.A cup clash on Tuesday.

Scott Dann is suspended for the home side whilst Leon McKenzie is ruled out with an Achilles injury and on-loan Jordan Henderson is set to make the squad after extending his loan deal until the end of the season from Sunderland.

Blackburn come into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League as they became the first club to score past the Premier League champions in 15 games, although record keeper Edwin van der Sar was not in goal at the time.
