Portsmouth currently reside in last place in the English Premier League and their survival in the top flight looks very insecure at this present time. In saying that, their current form is much better than Sunderland’s who appear to be in freefall at the moment.

Coventry were winning for most of the game but Portsmouth managed to equalise in the 90^th minute. In extra time, Pompey scored the winner in the 120^th minute!

Steve Bruce’s Sunderland side have not won a Premier League game for twelve matches. Last time out they were thrashed 7-2 at league leaders Chelsea. This run of form has seen the Black Cats fall to thirteenth in the league with 23 points – just four points above the relegation zone. In the last round of the cup they beat non-league side Barrow 4-0 at the Stadium of Light.
