In the third round of the FA Cup, Manchester City travelled to Championship side Middlesbrough and managed to secure the victory and the passage through to the next round thanks to a 1-0 win with a goal from Mwaruwari in the 45^th minute. With both Liverpool and Manchester United out of the competition, City are one of the favourites to win the tournament outright and although they won’t be complacent, the match against Scunthorpe offers them an easy route into round five.

Currently sitting in fifth position in the Premier League table, Manchester City suffered their first defeat under the Mancini era last weekend when they travelled to Everton and lost the game by two goals to nil.
