Bayern Munich travel to Frankfurt on Wednesday evening happy in the knowledge that recent history between the clubs is well and truly on their side. The result also moved Bayern up to fifth place in the Bundesliga table only four points off leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Eintracht Frankfurt, for their part, stay in ninth position with thirteen points but are four behind the team immediately above them and are in danger of finding themselves adrift of the leaders, so will want to rectify things in the league sooner rather than later.

In the previous round of the DFB Pokal, Bayern thrashed Rot-Weiß Oberhausen  5-0, while Eintracht Frankfurt dispatched Alemannia Aachen by 6-4!
