Batista, who replaced Diego Maradona as Argentina coach following the Albicelestes’ quarterfinal exit at the 2010 World Cup, started his reign with a 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland last month.

This is Argentina’s first game at Estadio El Monumental since 2005, when they beat continental rivals Brazil 3-1 thanks to a brace from Hernan Crespo. Argentina did meet Spain in November last year, a game which the latter won 2-1 thanks to a double from Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso.

Spain opened their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign in style as they thrashed Liechtenstein 4-0 in Friday. A brace from Fernando Torres and a goal apiece from David Villa and David Silva ensured that Vicente del Bosque’s men did not have to break sweat in Vaduz.
