Mourinho was coach of Italian giants Inter Milan when they beat Bayern in the finals of the Champions League a few months ago. He has now joined Real Madrid and has splashed out money on a host of new recruitments, most notably Benfica’s Angel di Maria and Stuttgart’s Sami Khedira.

Real were last seen in action against LA Galaxy in their American tour. Los Merengues won the game 3-2 after trailing 2-0 at one point of time. Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain netted a brace while midfielder Pedro Leon, another recent arrival, scored the winner.

Bayern gained revenge for their Liga Total Cup loss by beating Schalke 2-0 in the German Super Cup. World Cup Golden Boot winner Thomas Muller scored the opener, while veteran forward Miroslav Klose scored the game’s second goal. Bayern boss Louis van Gaal was without Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mark van Bommel for the Schalke game.
