The game will take place at the Khalifa International Stadium and it will offer locals the chance to see some of the world’s greatest superstars in action. Although both teams have suffered from several high-profile player pull-outs over the last couple of days, the action will still be top class and exciting.
Over the years, England and Brazil have clashed 22 times in various competitions and friendlies, and the momentum is very much in Brazil’s favour. Out of the 22 games, England have only managed to win three times; drawing another nine and losing the rest (ten). The last game between the two nations was back in 2007 at the new Wembley Stadium and was in fact the first full international to be played there after the revamp. That match ended in a 1-1 draw, with John Terry opening the scoring for England in the 68th minute, and Diego equalising for the Brazilians in the third minute of stoppage time!
England and Brazil have both qualified for next summer’s World Cup finals by winning their respective groups. Both are considered by many to be amongst the top favourites to lift the trophy, and the game on Saturday will give the manager’s of both teams to pit their wits against each other in preparation for more important things ahead.
