Estonia and Portugal will play a friendly on Wednesday with just a few games to go in the fourth round qualifiers for the World Cup Finals in South Africa next year. This match comes just four days after Portugal traveled to Tirana and played Albania for a qualification match. The first goal was scored by Hugo Almedia for Portugal in the 28th minute of the game, but it was only moments before Albania came back with a goal of their own, from Erjon Bogdani. Then, as the game was looking to be a draw in the final, Bruno Alves scored an injury-time goal, bringing the final score to 2-1 in favor of Portugal.

This brings Portugal to third place, with a shot at qualifying for the finals. They are just seven points behind Denmark and Hungary, the first and second slot holders in group one. As for Estonia, well, they are in fifth place in group five standings, behind Spain, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey and Belgium. They only have five points, while Spain has eighteen and Bosnia has 12, which puts them in no position to attend at South Africa. They have had just one win this season, along with two draws and three losses. As this game is just a friendly, they won't be miraculously moving up the standings to take one of the two slots for the finals.

Estonia's last game was on April 1st, inviting Armenia to challenge them at home, and Armenia put forth a steady barrage of attacks at the goal posts, but to Estonia's credit goalkeeper Sergei Pareiko was able to defend against the volley of balls headed his way. Seven minutes before the clock ran out Sander Puri slam dunked into the goal to give Estonia the final, ending 1-0. This result gave Estonia their five points that they currently hold, and Armenia is placed at the bottom of the group five standings, just a point behind. Estonia still has to face Spain in November, as well as Bosnia-Herzegovina in October of this year.

This will be an interesting game, even if it is a friendly, with Portugal needing some rest after a major game just days prior. This could mean that Estonia will have the advantage, especially playing on their own turf, but Portugal could just as well bring their all to the game and play with the same spirit they have been this season. If you want to watch this match – or any of the World Cup Qualifier matches click on the banners on this page to get your membership. You'll have an entire year's access to the games on the best quality live streams available. It's an International Friendly this Wednesday with Portugal and Estonia on June 10th.
