The French were last seen in action in March, when they lost 2-0 to reigning European champions Spain. Raymond Domenech’s men will play three friendlies in the lead up to the World Cup. After the Costa Rica game, they will face Tunisia in Rades and then square off against China in Reunion. William Gallas will definitely miss this game and so will Lassana Diarra, whose stomach problem has forced him to withdraw from the squad.

Costa Rica narrowly missed out on qualification for the 2010 World Cup. They were well placed to qualify at one stage, but fluffed their lines in the end and were forced to go through the lottery of the playoffs. Uruguay, who were denied by Australia four years ago, were not to be stopped this time around and La Celeste went through at Los Ticos’ expense.
